It's Me!

New goals can be funny things. I set this blog up quite a while ago and obviously never kept up with it. I hope to use it to communicate better with family and friends, and let them know what is going on in my life. So, to start things off,
I am about a month into a new semester and things are going really well. Three to four science classes at a time doesn't seem like quite the daunting task that it did before which isn't to say that they don't keep me plenty busy. I'm also taking a class entitled "Intro to Portuguese and Brazilian Literature" that has been really interesting so far. It is a nice break to consider things from a literary perspective every once in a while. One interesting thing I learned recently is that the Brazilian's have had a literary genre for some time now called the "Crônica" which is more or less a low tech blog. Writers would (and still do) submit short stories, anecdotes and the like to newspapers where they would be published and distributed. It sounds like it was only recently that compilations were published in book form. Some of them are funny, others more serious, but all seem like a kind of fun and more relaxing sort of read than we are often accustomed to in the English tradition.
For those who didn't know already, I'm currently dating an awesome girl from Chicago, IL. Her name is Kara Butler, she's about to graduate from the college of nursing here at BYU. I'm not sure what else she would want me to say here. I guess I'll find out soon enough. Which reminds me, I'm not very good at anticipating what kind of news and information I should be putting here. I'll do my best to guess but I would really appreciate suggestions.
I could keep rambling a while but I think I'll leave somethings to say for next time--better to keep these short so I can make frequent updates a habit. Until sometime soon,

Dylan

P.S. I am busy but I would like to invite anyone reading this to give me a call. I'd love to hear from you.

  4. Hey Dylan Meister -- I sent you a comment from my PDA clear back on Monday, meaning I would have been your very first "fan," but evidently it didn't work. Serious drag, that. So, hey, love this blog idea. Only one suggestion I might add: Photos, baby, photographs! You can't tease everyone with phrases like "awesome girlfriend" and not deliver on the promise. Have a great weekend. Thou art the man. UM
